Sculptra Aesthetic is a facial injectable that works gradually in a series of treatments — on average, three injection sessions over a few months — for a subtle, more youthful-looking appearance. Since it generates subtle results over time, the outcomes are more natural-looking.
The Poly-L Lactic Acid replaces collagen in the skin that has been lost throughout the years. It also stimulates the growth of natural collagen gradually increasing the thickness of the skin. In addition to restoring lost collagen in the skin and giving it a youthful appearance, Sculptra minimizes lines and wrinkles. A topical cream is used to minimize pain and discomfort before and after the treatment.
Areas of Use
Sculptra has been FDA approved to restore lost volume in the face. However, it is not used to treat all areas of the face; such as around the eyes or lips. Sculptra is commonly used for cheek augmentations to add volume and structure to the face. It can also be used to help soften the lines of Nasolabial Folds (the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of the mouth).
Any treatment using Sculptra is minimally invasive and essentially has no down time. Some patients may experience some swelling at the injection site and very minor bruising; this may last 7 to 10 days.
Duration of the Effect
Results are not immediate. Sculptra treatments must be done in 2-3 sessions over a 6 to 8 week period in order to maximize effects. The treatments may last anywhere from 18 months to 2 years. However results may vary depending on the injection site and the patients skin type.
